"I really believe my athletes determine their success. I can only guide them, offer a glimpse of what is possible...but knowing what is possible is everything! Everyone has talent, but the question is: What does it take to maximize it? From a coach's perspective, it requires a unique approach for each athlete. Combining common sense and a careful application of scientific training methods will yield results. From the athlete's perspective, they need to commit to following their plan as well as rely on their relationship with me - the coach - to guide them towards our goals. "Previous to taking the Basic GNT Clinic in 2004, I had participated in 5 Gold Nugget Triathlons. In 2004, I improved in every part of the triathlon - 297 places in the swim, 191 places in the bike, 406 places for the run and 316 places overall! My 2004 Gold Nugget was the first time I was PROUD of my performance, instead of just saying I had completed the event."

Coach Keller's Personal Statement
"Although I still enjoy training and competition, my focus has shifted to coaching.  I have been coaching athletes since 1995 and I started Multisport Training of Alaska in 2003.  I provide one-on-one coaching and group clinics and classes to adults of all ages and abilities.  I am the head cross-country running coach and distance track coach at East High School and I am a contract coach for Healthy Futures and Team in Training.

I am a partner in Up and Running Event Management, a company that provides race logistic support to running races and triathlons.  Clients include the Heart Run and the Gold Nugget Triathlon.  The perspective I have on race organization is a valuable insight that I can offer to my clients. 

I am a founding board member of the Alaska Run for Women and the Alaska Triathlon Club.  In 2005, I was inducted into the Athena Society, a Chamber of Commerce group that recognizes outstanding women in business.

In 2002, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a mastectomy with lymph node dissection, chemotherapy, and radiation.  I continued to exercise throughout treatment and I attribute my positive attitude to lessons I learned through sports.  I hope to pass on my enthusiasm for an active life to my two daughters, Kira (age 8) and Ciana (age 5) …… and to you!"

Kid's Triathlon Camp
Kids’ Triathlon Camp is for 6 – 12 year olds who are participating in the kids’ race at the Eagle River Triathlon. Swimming, biking, running, transitions, and bike maintenance will be covered. This is a fun camp, not a training camp. Skills will be taught through games/play. The goal is to lessen race anxiety while emphasizing the enjoyment of physical activity.

Summer Run Technique and Tempo Groups
The groups are open to all abilities although you should have a running (not walking) base of at least 2.5 hours a week.    This is a great transition to the higher intensity workouts that will begin in April.

Gold Nugget Workout Group
All abilities will be accommodated, even if you are brand new to the GNT.  Workouts will be bricks; either swim/bike or bike/run workouts that will mimic the demands of the Gold Nugget.  Early workouts may be inside but will move onto the GNT course as the weather allows.
